Day 1, Sunday, Arrive in Oslo
Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is free. Meet your fellow travelers tonight at the Welcome reception. Overnight. (WR)
Day 2, Monday, Oslo to Lillehammer
This morning we begin our tour of the Norwegian capital, passing through the central area with the Cathedral, Parliament, main street Karl Johan, University, and Royal Palace with a walk in the impressive Vigeland park with its more than two hundred incredible sculptures. Afterward, drive to Lillehammer, famous for the organization of the Winter Olympic Games in 1994. The clean air, varied landscapes, cultural events, museums with different themes such as the Art Museum, the Automobile Museum, and the Olympic Museum, make Lillehammer a city of culture, exhibitions, and festivals. Explore the old center with its wooden houses dating back to the 19th century and the main pedestrian street, Storgata. Dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Day 3, Tuesday, to Lillehammer, Molde/Kristiansund
First, have breakfast at hotel. Then, drive through Peer Gynt Road with a stop for walking to admire different views of this wonderful national park. Continue via Romsdal Valley part of the Golden Route, which is highly appreciated by climbing enthusiasts. We cross by ferry from Solnes to Afarnes and quick stop in Kristiansund. We continue the tour as we admire the fantastic piece of engineering which is ”The Atlantic Road”, from Kårvåg to Vevang, stopping at the village of Bud, before arriving at the hotel. (B)
Day 4, Wednesday, in Molde/Kristiansund, Nordfjord
After breakfast, we board a ferry to Vestnes and from there enjoy the scenic ride; winding along the narrow slopes of the mountain, bordered by stone railings, the Trollstigen -Trolls Road opened in 1936 and is a testimony to the extraordinary engineering and construction skills of its time. The journey continues through the alpine landscape with glacial lakes, and glaciers. We will cross the Norddalsfjord from Linge to Eidsdal, after which we follow the Eagle’s Road, an incredible winding sequence that will give us spectacular views of the Geirangerfjord, often described as the most beautiful fjord in all of Norway. The landscapes are included in UNESCO World Natural Heritage. We continue to the Nordfjord for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Day 5, Thursday, Nordfjord to Bergen
Today our journey will take us to the Fjærland area where we admire the most spectacular the Jostedalsbreen glacier, namely the Boyabreen by Fjærland. We continue towards the longest and deepest fjord in Norway, the second largest in the world, Sognefjord, the King’s Fjord. We’ll cross this majestic stretch of water from Mannheller to Fodness, from where we’ll head to Flam, passing through the Lærdal Tunnel, one of the longest tunnels in the world at 15 miles long. Arriving in Bergen, one of the most beautiful port cities in Norway. (B)
Day 6, Friday, Bergen
The morning will be dedicated to visiting the city of Bergen, traveling back in time through the narrow, dark, and mysterious streets of Bryggen, the former Hanseatic historic harbor district, listed in the UNESCO World Heritage. We will visit the Fish Market with its lively picturesque atmosphere, one of the most visited open-air markets in Norway. Afternoon at leisure, time for individual sightseeing and shopping. (B)
Day 7, Saturday, Bergen via Hardangerfjord to Oslo
We head today to Sognefjord, the “king” of western Norway’s fjords and Hardangerfjord is the “queen”. We will make a short stop at Steinsdalsfossen, one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Norway. We will continue our journey and visit the Voringsfossen Waterfall, the highest in Norway.
On towards Geilo, crossing the Hardangervidda Plateau, the largest high-altitude plateau in Europe. Hardangervidda is Norway’s largest national park known for its incredibly beautiful landscapes, but also for its herds of wild reindeer. Early in the evening, we reach again the capital of Norway. Overnight. (B)
Day 8, Sunday, departure Oslo
After breakfast, we will transfer you to the Oslo airport. (B)
