Day 1: Sunday – Arrival in Tirana
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is free. Meet your fellow travelers tonight at Welcome reception in your hotel. (WR)
Day 2: Monday- Tirana
This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Tirana, including visits to Sheshi Skënderbej (Skanderbeg Square), the Mosque of Et’hem Bey, the Clock Tower, and the statue of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, Albania’s national hero. You’ll also see the Palace of Culture—built with Soviet assistance and the National History Museum, known for its striking mosaic façade depicting key moments in Albanian history. The afternoon is free for you to explore on your own, shop, or simply relax. (B)
Day 3: Tuesday – to Tivat, Montenegro
After breakfast, we depart Tirana and travel to the town of Shkodra, now a major cultural center. Once the stronghold of the Illyrian tribe Labeat, Shkodra was conquered by the Romans in 168 B.C. We’ll visit Rozafa Castle, dramatically perched on a rocky limestone outcrop overlooking the city, before crossing the border into Montenegro and continuing to Tivat. Dinner will be served upon arrival. (B, D)
Day 4: Wednesday – Montenegro
Our exploration of Montenegro continues with a scenic drive along the Lovćen serpentines, offering breathtaking views of Boka Kotorska Bay from over 3,000 feet above sea level. We then proceed to Cetinje, the old royal capital, where we visit King Nikola’s residence—now a museum—and the Cetinje Monastery, home to two revered relics: the Hand of St. John the Baptist and a fragment of the Holy Cross. On the return journey to the hotel, enjoy more of the vibrant seaside scenery along the Montenegrin coast. Overnight in Tivat. (B)
Day 5: Thursday – Tivat to Dubrovnik, Croatia
After breakfast, we travel to Dubrovnik. En route, admire Kotor Bay, the only fjord in Southern Europe, and stop for an orientation tour of Kotor’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We then continue to Dubrovnik, where dinner will be served. (B, D)
Day 6: Friday – Dubrovnik
This morning, enjoy a guided walking tour of Old Dubrovnik, including the Rector’s Palace, the Bell Tower Clock, Orlando’s Column, Sponza Palace, the Dominican Monastery, and the Franciscan Monastery, home to one of the oldest pharmacies in the world. The afternoon is free for leisure. Optional Excursion: Home-hosted dinner with the Dubelj family. (B)
Day 7: Saturday – to Split
Travel north along the spectacular Adriatic coast, passing old fishing villages and modern resorts, en route to Split. (B, D)
Day 8: Sunday – in Split
In the morning, take a sightseeing tour of the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover Roman, Renaissance, and Gothic landmarks, including Jupiter’s Temple, the Peristyle, and the Cathedral. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore Split or relax at the beach. Optional Excursion: Visit the jet-set island of Hvar, a favourite among the rich and famous. (B)
Day 9: Monday – to Trogir and Plitvice Lakes
After breakfast, head to Trogir, a hub of artistic and cultural activity. Then travel inland to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Enjoy a walking tour of the lower lakes and take in the park’s stunning natural beauty—sixteen terraced lakes connected by cascading waterfalls and surrounded by lush forests. (B, D)
Day 10: Tuesday – to Opatija, Postojna, Bled, Slovenia
Return to the coast and travel along scenic Kvarner Bay to the elegant resort town of Opatija. After some free time, continue north to Postojna Cavesto explore one of Europe’s largest cave systems aboard a miniature electric train. Later, continue to Bled, a picturesque alpine town nestled in the Julian Alps. (B, D)
Day 11: Wednesday – BLED
Set against the backdrop of towering peaks, Bled was first “discovered” by travelers in the mid-19th century. A sightseeing tour highlights the town, the lakeshore, and stunning views from Bled Castle, perched high on a cliff above the lake. The afternoon is free to explore at your own pace. Optional Excursion: Visit the island in the middle of the lake, browse local boutiques, or simply enjoy the enchanting scenery. (B)
Day 12: Thursday – to Ljubljana and Zagreb, Croatia
Leave the mountains and head to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. See the most significant sights of the old city center on a walking tour. Highlights include the picturesque open-air Central Market, the Three Bridges, Baroque Town Hall, and Robba’s Fountain. Then, continue to Zagreb, Croatia’s capital city. (B, D)
Day 13: Friday – Zagreb, Croatia
Leave the mountains and head to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. On a walking tour, explore the most significant sights of the old city center, including the picturesque open-air Central Market, the Three Bridges, Baroque Town Hall, and Robba’s Fountain. Then, continue to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. (B)
Day 14: Saturday – Depart Zagreb, Croatia
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Zagreb airport for your departure flight. (B)
