    Day 1 – Sunday: Arrive in Rome

    You will be met at Rome Airport and then transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure until you gather with your fellow travelers and your tour director for a welcome reception and orientation. (WR) 

     

    Day 2 – Monday: Rome

    This morning, we will visit the Colosseum, a symbol of Rome. After our visit, continue to see the splendid Arch of Constantine, climb the ancient Palatino Hill, overlook Circus Maximus and the Imperial Palace, and stop on the legendary Via Sacra or “Sacred way”. In the afternoon we have time at leisure for more discoveries and activities on your own. (B)

    Day 3 – Tuesday: in Rome

    Today we visit the Vatican Museums, located within the city’s boundaries. We see the works of Raphael & Michelangelo and admire the Sistine chapel’s magnificent frescoes. We continue to St. Peter’s Square where some of the most important Papal ceremonies have taken place. Afternoon at leisure. (B)

     

    Day 4 – Wednesday: Rome to Pompeii, Herculaneum and  Salerno

    We say goodbye to Rome and travel to Pompeii, a town caught off guard by a volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Buried under ashes, the well-preserved ruins were rediscovered in the 16th century and are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our journey continues to Herculaneum. Herculaneum was a wealthy residential area with villas of wealthy Romans.  Continue to your hotel for the evening. (B,O)

     

    Day 5 – Thursday: Amalfi Coast

    After breakfast, depart to the Amalfi Coast, one of the most spectacular journeys with breathtaking scenery. At the center of Amalfi, preceded by a broad staircase stands the Cathedral, dedicated to St. Andrea (IX sec.). You should not miss a visit to the Emerald Cave, which is performed from the port of Amalfi (optional). Continue to Ravello and visit the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Pantaleone and Villa Rufolo. Return to your hotel for the night. (B)

     

    Day 6 – Friday: Salerno

    Full day at leisure.  Overnight. (B)

     

    Day 7 – Saturday: Depart Naples

    After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport in Naples for your departure flight. (B)
